To encourage students to engage in sports and steer them away from mobile addiction and drug abuse, Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a football distribution and friendly match in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh.
The initiative, led by the Haluaghat upazila unit of the organisation, was held on Thursday (9 April) at Haluaghat Adarsha High School.
The event aimed to promote physical activity among students and raise awareness about the harmful effects of excessive mobile use and harmful substances.
Among those present were unit advisor Syed Nafiul Hasan Mubin, President Zahiduzzaman Shihab, Acting general secretary Fakria Sithi, Vice Presidents Shaharia Bibek, Abdullah Al-Mamun, and Abu Saeed, as well as Joint Organising Secretary Abdullah Al-Tamim and other leaders.
A large number of students, including Saif Hasan Leon, Araf Tasin, Rudra, Anis, Raihan Khan Pathan, Rahul, Tanim, Swapnil, and Rajin, participated enthusiastically.
At the start of the programme, members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho handed over footballs to the students. This was followed by a lively friendly football match on the school field, where students took part with great enthusiasm.
The field was filled with cordial atmosphere, creating a refreshing and engaging experience for the participants.
Organisers emphasised that in today’s context, sports play a crucial role in keeping young people away from social problems such as mobile addiction and drug abuse. They said that physical activities not only ensure students’ physical well-being but also contribute significantly to their mental development.
“We want students to move away from the misuse of technology and become more engaged in outdoor activities,” organisers said. “Through sports, they can develop discipline, teamwork, and leadership qualities.”
Local students and parents welcomed the initiative, noting that such programs help involve students in positive activities and contribute to building a healthy and conscious future generation.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho has been actively involved in educational, social awareness, and humanitarian efforts in the area for a long time. Initiatives like this are playing a vital role in bringing positive change at the local level.
