Nazifa Tushi continues to strengthen her position as one of the most-talked-about actresses of the moment. She recently captured audience attention with the Eid release “Pressure Cooker” directed by Raihan Rafi, further boosting her popularity.
Amid the buzz surrounding that film, it has now been confirmed that Tushi will return to the big screen on the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha with her new movie “Roid.”
The film is directed by Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, widely known for his acclaimed film “Hawa,” in which Tushi also starred. This marks the second collaboration between the director-actress duo, raising expectations among audience and critics alike.
Director Sumon has described “Roid” as a symbolic and multidimensional narrative. The story revolves around a saint, his mentally unstable wife, and a palm tree beside their home-elements that together create a layered and metaphorical storyline. Alongside Tushi, Mostafizur Noor Imran plays a leading role in the film.
According to the director, the film attempts to reinterpret a thousand-year-old narrative through a contemporary lens. It also reflects the rural aesthetics of Bengal and draws inspiration from the artistic vision of SM Sultan, adding a distinct cultural and visual depth.
Even before its domestic release, “Roid” has earned international recognition. The film was officially selected for the prestigious International Film Festival Rotterdam, competing in the “Tiger Competition” section-an important milestone for Bangladeshi cinema.
Following the release of its trailer and poster, the film has generated strong buzz on social media, fueling curiosity and anticipation among audiences, filmmakers and industry insiders.
