The trailer of the upcoming Eid film “Bonolota Express” has been released, offering a blend of love, politics, humour and mystery set against the backdrop of a train journey.
The two-minute and 42-second trailer was unveiled on Thursday evening at a programme in Agargaon in the capital, in the presence of the film’s cast and crew.
The trailer follows the diverse journey of several passengers aboard a moving train. As the story unfolds, a series of incidents reveal memories, political undertones, a minister’s poetry reading, relationships, separation and various human emotions. Alongside these elements, moments highlighting professional responsibility also emerge.
Humorous dialogues and engaging background music add to the appeal of the trailer. The use of guitar in the soundtrack, particularly a portion of the song “Ural Dibo Akashe” by late musician Ayub Bachchu, gives the trailer a distinctive atmosphere.
Speaking at the event, actors Mosharraf Karim, Sabila Noor, Sariful Razz and Zakia Bari Mamo shared their experiences working on the film.
Mosharraf Karim plays Professor Rashid Uddin, a mathematician who attempts to solve complex puzzles during the train journey. “My character will be enjoyable for the audience. As a mathematician, he tries to solve all the complicated puzzles on the train,” he said, expressing hope that viewers will come to theatres to watch the film.
Sabila Noor portrays Chitra, a young woman who runs away from her wedding to pursue her dream. Reflecting on the shoot, she said working with many talented actors was a great achievement for her. She added humorously that she often teased her co-stars Mosharraf Karim and Sariful Razz during filming.
Sariful Razz, who plays Dr Ashhab Chowdhury, said he is a great admirer of writer Humayun Ahmed. He noted that if the legendary author were alive, he would have been pleased to see such a large project based on his work. Razz invited audiences to watch the film in theatres during Eid.
Director Tanim Noor said the train journey setting created an “attractive” atmosphere for the story. He added that several talented actors were included to bring the various characters from Humayun Ahmed’s novel to life, praising their preparation and dedication during shooting.
According to the director, the film is “100 percent authentic Bangladeshi” and reflects the country’s culture, values and lifestyle. He emphasised that the film is the result of the collective efforts of the entire team and urged audiences to watch “Bonolota Express” in theatres.
The film also features performances by Chanchal Chowdhury, Ajmeri Haque Badhon, Shyamal Mawla, Intekhab Dinar, Shamima Nazneen, Arefin Jilani, Sabrin Azad, Labanya Chowdhury, Tamim Karim, Sifat Rahman, AK Azad Setu and others.
