Education minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said Bangladesh and Pakistan have considerable potential to strengthen cooperation in the education sector.
He noted stronger collaboration between universities in the two countries through student and teacher exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and scholarship opportunities could further deepen bilateral relations.
He made these remarks on Monday while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the “Pakistan Education Expo-2026,” held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in the capital.
The education minister said there are opportunities to introduce student and faculty exchange programs, collaborative research projects, and mutual scholarship schemes between the two countries in the future.
He stated Bangladesh currently has 57 public universities and around 116 private universities, all of which are maintaining quality academic standards.
However, exchange programs involving students and teachers would play an important role in strengthening educational ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan, he added.
He further said joint cooperation and exchange programs between universities in both countries could be launched in the future. The Bangladesh government also offers various scholarships to talented students. However, Pakistan’s scholarship initiative is different because students are being selected through examinations.
“We hope that more Bangladeshi students will have the opportunity to pursue higher education in Pakistan,” he said.
Addressing Bangladeshi students, he said that the opportunity to study in Pakistan free of cost represents a major prospect. Alongside academic studies, students would also gain exposure to new experiences and cultural environments.
He encouraged students to make the most of these opportunities.
