Italian Ambassador to Dhaka Antonio Alessandro paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister's Defense Advisor Brigadier General Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam (Retd.).
The courtesy call was held at the Office of the Defense Advisor of the Armed Forces Division at Dhaka Cantonment on Tuesday afternoon.
A four-member delegation led by the Italian Ambassador was present at the time.
During the meeting, in addition to exchanging greetings in a cordial atmosphere, fruitful discussions were held on the prospects of strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Italy, especially defense cooperation.
Both sides emphasized on deepening and multi-dimensionalizing the existing friendly relations between the two countries. During the meeting, discussions were held on expanding mutual cooperation in the defense sector through training, capacity building and exchange of experience. At the same time, views were also exchanged on enhancing cooperation in the context of regional and global security.
During this courtesy call, both sides emphasized the importance of elevating the mutual trust, cooperation, and strategic relations between the two countries to a new level.
