Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasized the need for government officials to be mentally prepared to serve in any position within public administration. Speaking at the Deputy Commissioners' Conference 2026, he urged officials to avoid focusing on promotions or preferred postings, as it compromised professionalism and the overall effectiveness of public service, reports BSS.
“Personal gains should not override professionalism,” the PM stated, stressing that such attitudes harm the neutrality and efficiency of public administration. He called on officials to recognize the importance of every position in government service, no matter where or when.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening public administration through transparent recruitment, forming a robust Public Service Commission, and ensuring accountability across all levels.
Praising the professionalism displayed during the February elections, Tarique Rahman noted that the current government, despite facing economic and security challenges, had made significant progress with the cooperation of public officials.
He outlined ongoing government initiatives aimed at improving the standard of living for citizens, including Family and Farmer Cards, sports programs, and monthly honorariums for religious leaders.
The Prime Minister concluded by urging DCs to adopt a practical approach, ensuring timely and effective implementation of government programs to benefit the public.
