A complaint has been lodged with police alleging that 167 litres of petrol were looted from a filling station in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur following a violent attack, reports Daily Sun.
Officer-in-Charge Sohel Rana of Pirganj Police Station confirmed the matter on Sunday morning.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on Friday night when a group of individuals, armed with locally made weapons, carried out a sudden assault on Ujjal Filling Station.
During the attack, the assailants allegedly assaulted a meter operator, Farhad Mia, and threatened to kill him by holding a knife to his throat. Fearing for his life, he took shelter inside the station.
The attackers then switched on the fuel pump and filled approximately 167 litres of petrol into cans and motorcycles they had brought with them before fleeing the scene.
Those named in the complaint include Haniful Islam, 42; Raju Mia, 35; Sohel Mia, 28; Nahid Mia, 21; and Russell Mia, 26, along with 10 to 15 unidentified individuals.
Station manager Ruhul Amin alleged that the attack was carried out in a “film-like manner” and said the entire incident was captured on the station’s CCTV cameras.
