Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman has said that there is no room for political considerations or irregularities in distributing farmer cards.
He said this in response to a question from journalists after distributing farmer cards in Abaipur, Shailkupa Upazila of Jhenaidah on Tuesday afternoon.
The Law Minister said, “The government will distribute these farmer cards to medium and small farmers across the country in phases. There is no room for political considerations here, nor even any kind of irregularities.”
He also said, “The government has been fulfilling every election promise since taking oath. The government has waived off agricultural loans of Tk 10,000 to farmers. Distribution of farmer cards has started today. Implementation of canal digging programs has started across the country to increase agricultural production. The government is working continuously to improve the fate of farmers.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman virtually attended the inauguration ceremony of farmer cards at Kripalpur Government Primary School in Abaipur Union of Shailkupa at around 1:30 pm.
The Law Minister was present as the chief guest at the event.
Also present at the event were deputy commissioner Noman Hossain, superintendent of police Mahfuz Afzal, district council administrator MA Majid, district BNP general secretary Zahiduzzaman Mona, deputy director of the District Agricultural Extension Department Md. Kamruzzaman and 1,679 beneficiary farmers along with representatives of various classes and professions.
Farmers of Kripalpur block of Abaipur union of the upazila are receiving this farmer card in the first phase under the pilot project.
