Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that law enforcement agencies will properly fulfill their assigned responsibilities to eradicate drugs, and a special drive will be conducted in this regard very soon, so that Bangladesh can be drug-free.
He said this at a farmer card distribution ceremony at Teknaf Ezahar Girls High School premises in Cox's Bazar on Tuesday afternoon. Stating that the spread of gambling and online gambling has now become a social disease, the Home Minister has said that the government is researching how to take effective measures to solve this problem and will take necessary steps.
Regarding human trafficking, he mentioned that the problem has become acute in some regions of the country - especially Teknaf, Ukhia and Cox's Bazar areas.
“Instructions have already been given to the law enforcement agencies to prevent human trafficking. This crime will be suppressed through strict surveillance and well-organized drives at all relevant points,” he said.
Calling for everyone's cooperation in this regard, the Home Minister has said, “Public information and awareness are very important in this regard. If information is provided about where and what kind of crimes are being committed, law enforcement agencies will be able to take action more effectively.”
