Prime Minister Tarique Rahman joined a farmers' rally in Tangail on Pahela Baishakh to distribute 'Farmer Cards' among local farmers to facilitate access to government support.
He arrived at Shaheed Maruf Stadium around 11:30 am on Tuesday, where he will hand over the cards to residents of the Suruj area under sadar upazila.
Earlier, at around 9:30 am, Tarique Rahman left his residence in Gulshan for Tangail.
Prime Minister's Adviser and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi accompanied him on the visit.
Security was tightened across the town with a four-tier arrangement in place centering the visit.
According to the government, the cards will help farmers more easily access incentives, subsidies, and other forms of state support.
