Bangladesh Ambassador to Mexico Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey has said that the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has already gained acceptance among the general public despite the government facing significant challenges, reports Daily Sun.
In a post shared on his verified Facebook profile on Wednesday night (8 April), the envoy presented his observations on the government’s journey, public expectations, and the current challenges.
He noted that the government, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, began its journey amid “mountain-like challenges” and immense public expectations, adding that navigating both domestic and international realities has not been easy.
“People naturally expect visible changes, and such expectations are both reasonable and justified. In that context, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s leadership has already gained acceptance among the general public,” he wrote.
Ansarey highlighted the prime minister’s humility, simple lifestyle despite being the head of government, dedication, and punctuality as qualities that have helped build public trust and hope. He also expressed the expectation that other cabinet members would follow the prime minister’s example by demonstrating similar responsibility, sensitivity, and restraint.
He further said that those entrusted with key responsibilities by the prime minister must recognise their roles as a significant duty, not merely an opportunity. Their actions and statements, he added, should reflect that they are assets rather than liabilities to the government.
The envoy also emphasised that public awareness has grown and that accountability, sensitivity, and efficiency are essential to maintaining public confidence.
Referring to the role of civil society, he said that while criticism and pointing out mistakes are important, supporting the government in fulfilling public aspirations is also part of civic responsibility in a democratic environment.
He added that in a democratic Bangladesh, where space for dialogue has expanded, threats and intimidation are unwelcome. Ensuring peace, stability, human dignity, economic growth, and employment should be top priorities.
Concluding his remarks, Ansarey stressed the importance of focusing on nation-building, saying that instead of the streets of protest, the study table should be the destination for the younger generation aiming to build the future.
