The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has begun selling nomination forms for reserved women’s seats at its central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka.
The sale of forms started at 11:00am on Friday (April 10), with each form priced at Tk 2,000.
Candidates can collect and submit nomination forms until April 12 and must pay a Tk 50,000 deposit at the time of submission.
The process is taking place ahead of the election to reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament, for which the Election Commission has already announced the schedule.
According to the schedule announced by Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed at a briefing in Agargaon on April 8, voting will be held on May 12.
Under the timeline, nomination papers must be submitted by April 21, with scrutiny scheduled for April 22 and 23. Appeals will be heard on April 26, followed by disposal on April 27 and 28. The final date for withdrawal of candidacy is April 29, and symbols will be allotted on April 30.
Out of 350 parliamentary seats, 50 are reserved for women. Of these, 36 seats are allocated to the BNP, 13 to Jamaat-e-Islami and its alliance partners including NCP, and one to independent candidates.
