A total of 391 flights have been cancelled at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport due to the closure of airspace in several countries following the ongoing security situation in the Middle East.
Airport sources said that the cancellations occurred gradually between February 28 and March 11.
According to the data, 23 flights were cancelled on February 28, followed by 40 on March 1, 46 on March 2, 39 on March 3, 28 on March 4, 36 on March 5, 34 on March 6, 28 on March 7, 28 on March 8, 33 on March 9, and 32 on March 10.
Additionally, 24 more flights were cancelled after 00:00 local time on March 11. These included two flights of Kuwait Airways, four of Air Arabia, two of Gulf Air, four of Qatar Airways, four of Emirates, four of Jazeera Airways, and four of flydubai.
Meanwhile, some flights bound for the Middle East have continued to operate on a limited scale, while others remain scheduled. Between February 28 and March 11, a total of 364 Middle East–bound flights were either operated or scheduled.
Statistics show that six flights were operated or scheduled on February 28, 20 on March 1, 18 on March 2, 22 on March 3, 35 on March 4, 38 on March 5, 34 on March 6, 39 on March 7, 31 on March 8, 40 on March 9, and 42 on March 10.
On March 11, 39 flights were listed as operated or scheduled. Of these, eight were bound for Muscat, 19 for Saudi Arabia, and 12 for the United Arab Emirates. Among the UAE-bound flights, five were headed to Dubai, one to Abu Dhabi, and six to Sharjah.
Airport authorities said decisions regarding flight operations and cancellations are being made depending on the evolving airspace situation in the Middle East.
