The government has sent five Additional Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) of Bangladesh Police into compulsory retirement.
The officers sent into forced retirement are River Police Chief Kusum Dewan; Additional IGP (OSD) at Police Headquarters Abu Hasan Muhammad Tariq; Additional IGP (OSD) at Police Headquarters Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud; TR at Police Headquarters Md Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan; and Principal of the Bangladesh Police Academy in Rajshahi’s Sardah, Additional IGP Md Tawfique Mahbub Chowdhury.
The information was disclosed through five separate notifications signed by Senior Secretary of the Police-1 branch under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Manjur Morshed Chowdhury, on Monday.
According to the notifications, the officers have been retired from government service in the public interest under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018.
They will be entitled to receive retirement benefits in accordance with the existing rules.
The orders, issued in the public interest, take effect immediately.
