In a rare political gesture, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman paid a courtesy call on Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim at the latter’s house in the capital on Monday evening.
The BNP chief arrived at the IAB ameer’s residence in the capital’s Ramna around 7:15 pm, when Rezaul Karim welcomed him.
IAB Secretary General Yunus Ahmad was also present.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan accompanied Tarique Rahman during the visit.
Earlier on Sunday, Tarique Rahman paid separate courtesy calls on Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman and National Citizen Party (NCP) Convenor Nahid Islam at their respective residences.
During the meetings, they exchanged views on the prevailing political situation and issues of mutual interest. The discussions also focused on strengthening democratic practices, fostering political understanding, and maintaining constructive dialogue among parties in the post-election context.
