A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of 604.39 decimals of land owned by Nasrin Islam, a director of EXIM Bank and Nassa Group, in eight locations in Cumilla.
The deed value of the properties is Tk52,257,000.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order on Monday .
Earlier on the day, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director Shihab Salam filed the application seeking the seizure order on behalf of the commission.
According to the ACC’s application, a case has been filed against the accused on charges of acquiring assets worth Tk202,659,850 through abuse of power, bribery and corruption, which are allegedly inconsistent with her known sources of income, and retaining them in her possession.
During the investigation, information obtained from various sources indicated that the accused was attempting to sell or transfer her movable and immovable assets. If the alleged illegally acquired properties were transferred, converted or sold before the disposal of the case, it could cause irreparable loss to the state. Therefore, it was deemed necessary to immediately attach the immovable properties held in her name or possession.
