I'm not going anywhere, my roots are in this land,” said Tasnim Jara, the independent candidate who contested in the 13th National Parliament election.
After the 13th National Parliament election, Tasnim Jara has accepted defeat and pledged to play a constructive political role. She made these statements in her verified social media status after the election.
This leader, who resigned from the former NCP, contested as an independent candidate for Dhaka-9 constituency with the football symbol. In the election results, she received 44,684 votes. Accepting defeat, she said that she is not withdrawing from politics but will play a constructive role by standing by the people.
Tasnim Jara congratulated the winning party BNP and the winning candidate for Dhaka-9 constituency Habibur Rashid Habib on the election. She said that she called the winning candidate personally after the results were announced at night and congratulated him.
She wrote in her status, "I wish them success for the sake of Dhaka-9 and the people of Bangladesh. We will work as a constructive force. We will support public welfare initiatives. However, we will be vocal against any decision that is harmful to people.”
Describing women's participation as a major achievement, Tasnim Jara said that the unprecedented presence of women in their campaign was inspiring. She also mentioned that the quality of discussions changes when women are at the decision-making table. Her message to young women is, do not be afraid to dream, you also have the right to be at the center of power.
Praising the role of volunteers, she said, they are the heartbeat of clean politics. The example of political activism of ordinary citizens that they have created is rare. She urged them to stay organized without getting upset.
Responding to the idea that many people think that she will return to the UK after the election, Tasnim Zara said, “I am not going anywhere. My roots are in this soil, my work is here. This journey did not start for an election. The goal is to change the political culture. It is a long journey.”
