Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin has said that voting and vote counting in the upcoming election and referendum will be conducted with full transparency, assuring that the Commission will deliver a free, fair and participatory election.
He made the remarks on Wednesday while briefing international election observers and journalists at Hotel InterContinental in the capital.
Nasir Uddin said that, for the first time, postal voting arrangements have been made for voters living abroad. Many expatriate voters have already cast their ballots, and the ballot papers have reached the country.
All citizens, regardless of gender, religion or ethnicity, are being encouraged to exercise their franchise, he added.
The CEC said that 160 international journalists will observe the election. Both local and international observers will carry out their duty in line with the Election Commission’s guidelines.
He also expressed hope that their reports would reflect the true picture of the election.
Mentioning that the Election Commission has completed all necessary preparations, the CEC said law enforcement agencies will work to ensure security.
