Japan will send an Election Observer Mission to Bangladesh from February 9 to February 14 to support the fair conduct of the general election scheduled for February 12, reports UNB.
The mission will be led by Watanabe Masato, former Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, and will include officials from Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka, and an external expert.
In addition to observing the casting and counting of votes, the mission will engage with the Bangladesh Election Commission and coordinate with other international observer teams to exchange views and share information.
The deployment is part of Japan’s ongoing cooperation to strengthen democracy in Bangladesh and follows the Election Commission’s invitation to welcome international observers, the Japanese government said.
