BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday said religion is being exploited for political purposes to create confusion in society, calling the trend deeply worrying.
He made the remarks at a press conference held at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan in the capital this morning.
Rizvi said such practices are aimed at suppressing dissent and creating an atmosphere of fear. He alleged that a coordinated “bot army” is being used to systematically harass women, while religion is being weaponized against individuals holding different political or ideological views.
Referring to the country’s history and social realities, Rizvi said the rise of religion-based politics has consistently posed the greatest risk to women’s freedom and security.
