Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder on Tuesday said the referendum would be a significant milestone for the country’s future governance.
Referring to the implementation of the ‘July Charter’ alongside the 13th parliamentary elections scheduled for February 12, Majumder-who is also in charge of the food ministry-made the remarks while addressing a gathering in Bagerhat.
The district administration organized the gathering to promote the referendum and motivate voters at the Dargah Hat ground adjacent to Khan Jahan Ali (R.A.) Shrine.
This referendum will reflect the people’s views, he said it would create an opportunity to build a democratic, accountable and responsible state system.
Referring to the ‘July Charter’ the adviser said,” It is not just a document; it is an outline to ensure democracy, good governance and civil rights in the country.”
Besides, “A stable and strong state can be formed only through proper implementation of this charter,” he mentioned.
People would spontaneously take part in the referendum, he hoped saying, “Country’s every conscious citizen must go to the polling station and vote ‘yes’ to make the July Charter a winner.”
