In order to complete the 13th National Assembly elections and referendum activities smoothly, the Election Commission (EC) has ordered the postponement of elections of all professional and other organizations in the country until February 12, 2026. Instructions in this regard have already been sent to all returning officers.
This instruction was sent to all returning officers through a letter signed by EC deputy secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain on Monday (January 12). The letter said that all organizations in the country have been asked to postpone their election activities to avoid any impact or confusion as the voting is being held on the same day.
According to the EC's instructions, in addition to the elections of professional organizations, elections of all types of organizations in the country including educational institutions, transport owners and workers' associations, journalist associations, merchant associations, cooperative associations, trade unions will have to be organized after February 12, 2026.
The Election Commission has requested all concerned to take necessary measures in accordance with this decision. Voting for the referendum and the 13th National Assembly elections will be held on February 12.
