Mahfuz Alam, a former advisor to the interim government and one of the organizers of the July Uprising, said that if we are made unsafe, those protecting the interests of India and other countries in Bangladesh will not be allowed to be safe.
He said this at an all-party resistance rally at the central Shaheed Minar in the capital on Monday.
Mahfuz Alam said, “When we had the power to destroy the houses of these Mujibists, this Awami League, these 14-party terrorists, whereas today they dared to do this (shooting Sharif Osman bin Hadi) because we were protecting ourselves. If we have made a mistake by forgiving, then we will take a pledge and will not forgive again.”
He said that some people have taken the political struggle inside the country outside the country, I want to warn them that the struggle for freedom will also go outside the country.
Mahfuz said, “We cannot be touched. If we are dead, then we will take the attacker’s life too. There is no use in being polite. There has been a lot of patience, a lot of reconciliation, a lot of talk. We have said, let the ICT Tribunal try us in a transparent manner. But on the one hand, the trial is going on, on the other hand, India will give the culprits refuge through loopholes in the law, they will commit terrorism from India, they will shoot at our brothers— we will not tolerate it.”
