All the three demands raised by a DUCSU-led delegation over arrest of Osmani Hadi's attackers is rational, and will be implemented, said Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Sunday.
The home adviser made the remark at a press briefing held at the Secretariat following a meeting with a 14-member delegation, led by DUCSU Vice President Abu Shadik Kayem, reports The Daily Sun.
Abu Shadik Kayem said that the “home adviser, foreign adviser and law adviser must resign from their posts if all the demands are not met immediately.”
The three demands are:
1) Arresting the direct participants, the planners and the collaborators in the attack on July Uprising participant Osman Hadi. Making accountable all the state organs concerned with law and order and ensuring punishment for any negligence. To socially boycott all the cultural figures who supported the attack and normalised killing of July Uprising participants.
2) Law enforcers must launch area-wise combing operations against members of Awami League, a banned political party, within 48 hours. All the “terrorists” of the party must be arrested, and all the illegal firearms must be recovered during the drives. The government’s negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.
3) Ousted dictator Sheikh Hasina must be repatriated from her self-exile in India, and the death sentence against her for crimes against humanity must be executed as part of the first and essential step towards opposing Indian expansionism. Diplomatic ties with India must be reconsidered and ties cannot be normalised until all the fugitive convicts are returned.
