The health condition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia remains unchanged as she continues to receive treatment in the Coronary Care Unit(CCU) of Evercare Hospital in the capital.
Referring to Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan said at around 9pm on Sunday that there is currently no plan to take the BNP chief abroad for treatment, reports Daily Sun.
“Madam’s health condition remains unchanged. She is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit under close observation of a medical board comprising local and foreign doctors,” he said.
Dr Zahid earlier told reporters that the medical board is making every effort to support her recovery. “She is currently able to receive treatment from the doctors and is responding to the treatment being given,” he added.
He said that although a decision had earlier been taken to move her abroad for more advanced treatment, this could not be implemented due to technical complications and her present physical condition.
“Members of the medical board are hopeful that better treatment can be ensured here. If necessary, she may be taken abroad at a later stage,”Dr Zahid said.
Dr Zahid, who is also a member of the BNP Standing Committee, said her daughters-in-law - Dr Zubaida Rahman and Sharmila Rahman - are staying by her side and providing support.
Khaleda Zia has been receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital since 23 November. According to her doctors, she remains under round-the-clock supervision by Professor Shahabuddin Talukder.
