BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said, "I am good and everyone else is bad! We have seen such a thinking for the past 16 years. Sadly, it seems that after August 5, I don't know why, it seems that it has not changed. It is desirable that it should change. It is very urgent that it should change."
He said this while addressing the chief guest while virtually joining the BNP's 'Plan for Building the Nation' program on Monday afternoon. The program was held at the Khamarbari Krishibid Institute in the capital's Farmgate.
Tarique Rahman said, "We protested against the past dictatorship. Why did we protest? Because there was no accountability; There was no accountability whether people are living or dying. In a multi-party democracy, people will give different opinions. They have the right to give opinions. They have the right to speak. But of course, thought like one person is good and everyone else is bad cannot be desirable in any way."
Stating that this concept needs to be changed, the BNP acting chairman said, "This is a threat to democracy. One particular person is good and everyone else is bad, thinking this is a very dangerous thing for democracy."
Stating that only democracy can ensure accountability in the society, country and state, he said, "Only an elected democratic government is bound to be accountable to the common people."
