MPO-listed teachers will get salary and other benefits from state exchequer if they have a minimum number of students in year-end exams, and can ensure a minimum pass rate, according to the updated rules.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education published the rules online on Sunday.
As per the updated rules, a lower-secondary school in a city corporation area must have at least 35 students in the year-end exams of each class between class 6 and class 8. The pass rate for each year-end exam must be 70 percent for the teachers of the class to avail state-backed benefits.
Similarly, a lower-secondary school in a municipality in a sadar upazila must have the same number of students in final exams of each class. The pas rate of each exam must be 65 percent.
Lower-secondary schools in rural areas must have at least 25 students and a pass rate of 60 percent.
Secondary schools in city corporation areas, sadar upazila’s municipalities and rural areas must have at least 35 SSC candidates each and pass rates of 70 percent, 60 percent and 55 percent.
Higher secondary institutions in city corporation areas, and sadar upazila’s municipalities must have at least 40 students in each section (science, humanities or commerce) or in each subject as candidates in the HSC exams. The pass rates must be 65 percent for institutions in in city corporation areas and 55 percent in municipalities. The number of HSC candidates in rural area colleges must be at least 35 and pass rate must be 50 percent.
Assistant teachers will get promoted to senior teachers upon completing ten years in service since getting MPO registration. The grade elevation will be 10th grade to 9th grade. The promoted senior teachers will get to the next grade six years later. A teacher can get maximum two promotions during his/her career.
