The Election Commission (EC) has instructed Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar to remain prepared for recording the schedule announcement for the 12th Parliamentary Election.
The EC has indicated that the election schedule may be announced on Wednesday.
A letter has been sent to BTV and Betar to arrange for the recording of the Chief Election Commissioner’s (CEC) address to the nation on that day.
Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud said that the commission has sent letters to BTV and Betar regarding the recording of the CEC’s speech marking the announcement of the election schedule.
According to the letter, the CEC will address the nation, and the broadcasters have been asked to stay prepared so the speech can be recorded and aired promptly.
EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said that the recording of the speech has been scheduled for December 10. On the same day, the full commission, including the CEC, will meet the President.
EC officials said, following the meeting with the President, the CEC traditionally announces the election schedule in his address to the nation.
The recorded speech may be aired immediately after it is finalized.
