BNP Standing Committee member and party-nominated candidate for the Chakaria–Pekua constituency Salahuddin Ahmed on Sunday expressed confidence that “the power of democracy will triumph” in the upcoming national election, Insha Allah. He described the BNP’s rice-ear (Sheaf of Paddy) symbol as a symbol of development and urged leaders and activists to carry its message to every household.
He made the remarks during a roadside meeting in Harbang Union of Chakaria Upazila around 12:30 pm.
Salahuddin Ahmed said the people of Bangladesh have waited 16 to 17 years to fully exercise their voting rights. He added that if the BNP forms the next government, the Chittagong–Cox’s Bazar highway will be upgraded to six lanes, and the establishment of a deep seaport in Maheshkhali would help transform Chakaria–Pekua into a major urban centre.
Seeking prayers for BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, he said the people of Bangladesh have honoured her with the title “Mother of Democracy.” “We will surely build a truly democratic Bangladesh, Insha Allah,” he said.
Among those present were his wife and former MP Advocate Hasina Ahmed, Chakaria Upazila BNP President Enamul Haque, General Secretary Mubarak Ali, and leaders of BNP and affiliated organisations.
