BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has commented that the signatory parties are not bound to accept any decision taken by the government outside the July charter.
He said this at a press conference of the party's standing committee at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan in the capital on Tuesday. At the same time, the BNP leader also said, “There are some notes of dissent from various parties in the charter. The charter mentions that if the verdict is received, it will be implemented accordingly, but it is not in the recommendations. The referendum will be held on the day of the national parliament election, and that is my position.”
He said that we have to talk to those who are making movement by creating new issues. If the government takes any decision outside the charter, the signatory parties are not bound to accept it. There is no situation in the country like issuing a presidential order because it is not in the constitution.
Salahuddin Ahmed said, "Now, if a notification wants to be named as an order and it does not have legal status, then the government can publish it through a notification. But it will not become a law."
