BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Jamaat-e-Islami fears losing its existence if the national election takes place.
“They are afraid because they know that if voting happens, their existence will disappear. That’s why Jamaat is making various excuses to delay the election,” he observed.
He made the remarks while addressing a view-exchange meeting at K K Bari Lakshmirhat High School field in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.
The BNP leader said, “After nine months of talks under the name of reforms, if the unresolved issues are imposed on the people, the interim government must take responsibility for it.”
Speaking about the NCP, Fakhrul said, “There isn’t a single NCP unit in this area. That’s why they echo Jamaat’s voice. They only want publicity, but the public doesn’t care about PR. All this is aimed at delaying the vote.”
Thakurgaon district BNP president Mirza Faisal Amin, general secretary Poigam Ali, Sadar Upazila president Abdul Hamid, among others, were present at that time.
