There are no grounds for doubt regarding the election, which is expected to be conducted as scheduled, said Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul.
He made the remarks on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. while speaking to reporters after a discussion at the Rajshahi District Legal Aid Office.
Asif Nazrul said, “The people of the country are eagerly awaiting the elections. Since elections have not been held for 16 to 17 years, people’s habit of participating in elections has faded and the election will take place on time.”
He added, “Political parties often make various statements to pressure each other and to put pressure on authorities. All preparations for holding the election within the scheduled time are being completed.”
Regarding bail, Law Adviser said that if there is a risk of committing the same offense again, bail is often denied. The decision to grant bail is a judicial matter and depends on the police report. Lawyers also play a role in the process.
He further stated that providing legal assistance under Legal Aid has been made mandatory. A pilot project was launched in 12 districts, and it will soon begin in Rajshahi as well.
