Legal affairs adviser Dr Asif Nazrul said that while many are talking about a “safe exit”, the advisers themselves do not need one. He stressed that the nation needs a safe exit from the country’s “dreadful state structure”.
Asif Nazrul made the remarks on Saturday at a national consultation meeting on the National Human Rights Commission Ordinance 2025, held at a hotel in Dhaka.
He said, “You know there is a lot of discussion about a safe exit at present. We, as advisers, are certain that none of us needs any safe exit. Over the past 55 years, we have seen misrule, extrajudicial killings, and banks looting ordinary people’s deposits. What we truly need is a safe exit from this horrific, diseased, self-destructive state structure.”
Advisers Adilur Rahman Khan (Housing, Public Works and Industry) and Syeda Rizwana Hasan (Environment, Forest, Climate Change and Water Resources) attended the meeting along with Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman, Supreme Court Bar Association President Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, and representatives of various international organisations.
