BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that establishing democratic values at every level of the state and society will be the main goal of BNP.
He expressed this commitment in a message given on the occasion of Shaheed Jihad Day on Thursday.
In the message, Mirza Fakhrul said, "To fulfill the dream and hope with which Shaheed Nazir Uddin Jihad took the bullet of the dictator in his chest, our main goal will be to establish democratic values at all levels of the state and society. And only then will the soul of Shaheed Nazir Uddin Jihad find peace."
He also said, "On the occasion of Shaheed Jihad Day, I seek forgiveness for the departed soul of Shaheed Nazir Uddin Jihad, a pioneer in the movement to re-establish democracy, and I pay my deep respect to his immortal memory."
BNP secretary general said, “Martyr Nazir Uddin Jihad is an eternal name in the history of the democratic movement of Bangladesh. He dedicated himself to restoring democracy. His glorious sacrifice led to the fall of dictator Ershad. And constitutional continuity began.”
He also said, “We as a nation are proud of his pioneering role in the victorious jjourney of democracy by overthrowing the dictatorial government in the 1990s.”
