The Parbatya Chattogram Nagorik Parishad has called for a hartal from morning to evening to press home its eight-point demand on October 13.
The decision was announced at a conference room of a residential hotel in Bandarban on Thursday. The organisation’s central committee chairman, Kazi Md Mojibur Rahman, made the announcement during a press conference.
He said the hartal aims to press home their “constitutional and just rights” in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
The chairman also clarified that colleges, government offices and courts, vehicles of government officials, ambulances, food and medicine shops, law enforcement vehicles, and vehicles carrying newspapers and electronic media personnel will remain exempt from the hartal.
