BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman said the demonic repression of Awami leaders who fled the country was equivalent to that of the Yazidi army.
He said this in a message given on the occasion of the holy Ashura on Saturday.
In his message, Tarique Rahman said, “10th Muharram is a very eventful and memorable day for the followers of Islam. Numerous events have taken place on this day in the history of the world. Therefore, the glory of this day is infinite. The memory of a tragic and sad event is intertwined with this day - which is observed as the holy Ashura. While fighting against injustice and oppression, Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), was martyred on this day in the desert of Karbala. This day is a day of mourning, respect and sacrifice. Protesting worldly injustice and corruption and Imam Hussain (RA)’s sacrifice have become a glorious example for Muslims and the world, including Bangladesh.” Imam Hussain’s suffering and martyrdom and the sacrifice he made to keep Islam alive are considered a source of great inspiration in the world. On the other hand, God-centered justice, piety, sacrifice and humanity— the essence of dignity is revealed.”
‘The martyrdom of Hazrat Hossain (RA) is an example of an unprecedented ideological struggle against injustice, oppression and torture. The Imam army sacrificed their lives in the war against those who, obsessed with power, had destroyed justice and humanity. The martyrdom of the Imams’ army in Karbala has always inspired the oppressed people in every country to free themselves from the clutches of oppressors.”
He said, “In the last 16 years, the fallen Awami fascist government had established an indescribable reign of exploitation and oppression, including all kinds of fraudulent elections, deprivation of people’s voting rights, disappearances, extrajudicial killings, terrorism, violence and siphoned off the country’s money abroad. BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was sentenced to imprisonment in a false case and was not given proper medical treatment. They were deprived and made to face death. The demonic repression of the cruel Awami leaders who fled the country was equivalent to the Yazid army. Even today, we will have to continue the struggle until justice and fairness are established in the country with the spirit of self-sacrifice of Imam Hossain (RA) and his close associates. And so that no ruthless tyrant emerges in any way, the war of the Imams’ army will always inspire us with the motivation to resist.
“I pay deep respect to the memory of Shaheed Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA), his martyred family and companions in memory of their martyrdom, and I pray for the forgiveness of their souls. Allah Hafez, Bangladesh Zindabad.”
