Three members of a family have been beaten to death in Cumilla’s Muradnagar upazila over allegations of involvement in drug trading.
The deceased are Rubi Akter, her son Rasel and daughter Jonaki.
Injured Ruma has been sent to the hospital in critical condition.
Bangrabazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the deaths.
According to the police and locals, the deceased Rubi, along with her family members, had long been involved in drug trafficking, robbery, and creating a reign of terror in the area. On Thursday morning, locals attacked their house and beat them in a mob assault, resulting in three deaths and Ruma seriously injured.
Multiple cases had been filed against the deceased in Muradnagar, Nabinagar, and Bangrabazar Police Stations, they added.
