Ambassador and Permanent Representative (PR) of Bangladesh to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) MJH Jabed called on Secretary-General of the OIC Hissein Brahim Taha on Wednesday at the General Secretariat of OIC in Jeddah.
The Permanent Representative congratulated the OIC Secretary General for the successful completion of the 51st Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) held on June 21-22, 2025 in Istanbul, Turkey.
He also conveyed deep appreciation on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh for prominently featuring the Rohingya issue in the CFM and inclusion of this item in the outcome documents.
The Ambassador sought Secretary-General’s support in creating a credible international pressure on Myanmar till the repatriation process is completed.
The Secretary-Geneal acknowledged the need of active support of the OIC member states in resolving the Rohingya issue and assured that OIC will continue supporting Bangladesh in the United Nations (UN) and other international platforms as well till a peaceful repatriation is achieved.
The Permanent Representative underscored the significance of inclusion of Rohingya issue in the OIC’s Ten-Year Programme of Action (TYPOA).
He also requested the Secretary-General for ensuring uninterrupted financial support to Gambia for its ongoing legal proceedings in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Rohingya issue.
During the call on, the Secretary-General commended the role of Bangladeshi professionals working in the OIC headquarters and its affiliated organisations.
Ambassador Jabed pointed out that opening a Permanent Mission reflects the Bangladesh Government’s commitment to engage with OIC Secretariat and member states more deeply in political, economic and diplomatic contexts.
He reiterated Bangladesh’s unwavering support to the cause of Palestine and call for a united position from Muslim Ummah in implementing Palestine statehood under the two-state formula.
Senior officials from the OIC Secretariat and the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the OIC were present in the meeting.
