BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman visibly welled up with tears as the daughter of a victim of enforced disappearance shared her helplessness while addressing a programme held in Dhaka on Tuesday, commemorating the July Uprising ceremony.
Parvez, a leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student front of BNP, became a victim of enforced disappearance during the tenure of the deposed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government.
“Will my brother and I never be able to embrace our father ever?” asked Ridhi, daughter of Parvez, in a voice filled with emotion while addressing the programme held at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) in Dhaka this evening.
Earlier, Tarique joined the programme virtually from London and upon hearing the heartfelt appeal, tears were seen rolling down his cheeks.
The BNP acting chairman was seen repeatedly wiping his eyes on the giant screen until Ridhi’s speech was finished. And the emotional scenario went viral on social media within a moment.
BNP leaders and activists, along with family members of enforced disappearance victims and July Uprising martyrs, participated in the programme.
