Achim Tröster, ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bangladesh, bid farewell in a unique and heartfelt way by pedalling a rickshaw with his wife seated behind him.
Ambassador Tröster extended his goodbye to the people of Bangladesh through this symbolic gesture on Monday.
In a video posted on the Facebook page of the German Embassy in Dhaka, Tröster is seen wearing a lungi and a gamcha (napkin) tied around his head, pedalling a rickshaw with his wife as a passenger.
In his farewell message, the envoy said, “After spending four wonderful years in Bangladesh, I am now leaving Dhaka. Berlin is only about 7,000 kilometres away from Dhaka. I hope to reach there by winter.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Achim Troster paid a farewell call on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna, marking the end of his four-year diplomatic tenure in Dhaka. During the meeting, he emphasized deepening the ties between Germany and Bangladesh.
