BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that China is keen to work with the newly elected government.
He came up with the observation while speaking at a press conference held at the party chairperson's Gulshan office on Monday.
Speaking about the BNP delegation's visit to China, Fakhrul said the party reaffirmed its strong support for the ‘One China Policy’ during the trip.
Mentioning that a discussion was also held regarding the Teesta issue, the BNP leader stated that after Bangladesh expressed its needs, China responded positively. If China proposes something on the matter, BNP will consider it positively in the future.
About the Rohingya issue, Mirza Fakhrul noted that China is sincerely trying to persuade Myanmar to resolve the Rohingya crisis.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam visited China on June 22 at the invitation of the Communist Party of China. He led the high-level 9-member BNP delegation. The delegation returned to Bangladesh on June 27.
The BNP delegation included BNP Standing Committee members -- Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and Selima Rahman; Chairperson’s Advisory Council members -- Ismail Zabihullah, Professor Sukomal Barua, Zahir Uddin Swapan; Media Cell Convener Professor Dr Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel; and the Chairperson’s Private Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar.
