Formal charges have been submitted in the murder case of Abu Sayeed, a student of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), with a total of 30 individuals named as accused.
On Monday, the prosecution filed the charge sheet before the International Crimes Tribunal-2, presided over by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury. The tribunal is scheduled to hold a hearing on the charges at 11:30 a.m. today.
Abu Sayeed’s killing had sparked widespread outrage across the region, prompting a comprehensive investigation. Law enforcement authorities identified and arrested multiple suspects linked to the crime, leading to the formal submission of charges.
The tribunal will now review the charges and decide on the next legal steps, including whether to proceed to trial. Officials have emphasized that the case will be pursued with full adherence to due process and transparency.
