The Election Commission (EC) is set to commence voter registration and NID distribution activities for Bangladeshi expatriates in Japan.
In this regard, a technical team will conduct the activities from the Bangladesh Embassy in Japan from July 7.
Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhter Ahmed will monitor the campaign. He will stay in Japan from July 13 to July 17 to observe the activities.
Earlier, on June 26, a notification was circulated seeking a list of an officer and four data entry operators from the Bangladesh Embassy for this purpose.
The EC official informed that voter registration and NID distribution activities are going on in UAE, Saudi Arabia, UK, Italy, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, Australia and Canada for the Bangladeshi nationals living there.
A total of 47,032 Bangladeshi expatriates have applied for voter registration to date.
Mission offices have collected bio-metrics from 29,563 people and 20,451 people have been enlisted as voters among the applicants.
