BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said we want to give due respect to the martyrs and fighters of the July Revolution and they should be honored in this July-August.
He said this after visiting the venue of the first day of BNP's 36-day program surrounding the mass uprising of '24 on Saturday afternoon. The venue is being organized at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on the initiative of BNP.
BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, July-August Mass Uprising, Mourning, and Victory Anniversary Celebration Committee Member Secretary and BNP Mass Education Affairs Secretary Professor Dr Morshed Hasan Khan, BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, central leaders -- Habibur Rashid Habib, Dr Mahdi Amin, Dr Tawfiqul Islam Mithil, Abdus Sattar Patwari, Farzana Sharmin Putul, among others, were present at that time.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “We have announced a 36-day program centered on July 1 and want to properly implement the program. We should give special respect to those whose children left this world to restore democracy.”
He said, “I visited the venue to implement the first program to celebrate the July-August Mass Uprising Day. I visited the venue on the initiative of this committee so that I can implement the program with solemnity and the guests and the family members of the martyrs can sit comfortably and the program becomes successful.”
Rizvi said, “The July Revolution is one of the many achievements of the nation. We are going to celebrate the first anniversary. We dream of building a future Bangladesh that the common people dream of. We expect a secured life for everyone.”
He said, “We have economic and social crisis. There is a mob culture. We have to get rid of these. Democracy has to be ensured.”
He also said, “Of course, elections must be held within a reasonable time. We expect the Election Commission to announce an election date soon.”
On July 1, on the occasion of the anniversary of the July-August mass uprising, mourning and victory, a discussion meeting titled 'Mass Uprising 2024: National Unity and Democratic Movement' and a special program in honor of the martyrs' families will be organized with the participation of all political parties. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will speak as the chief guest virtually from London at the program.
