Nagorik Oikya president Mahmudur Rahman Manna said the Awami League will not be able to participate in the elections until the trial is over.
“There is no room for forgiveness for the brutal atrocities, torture and massacres they have carried out in the last 15 years. It stings like a burning wound when we remember their oppression and torture. Sheikh Hasina was an ugly dictator who even outclass Hitler," said Manna.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the shadow parliament organized on 'The Role of Young Voters in the Transition of Power' held at the FDC in Dhaka on Saturday. Debate for Democracy chairman Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron presided over the program. The competition was organized by Debate for Democracy.
Mahmudur Rahman Manna said, “If anyone wants to sponsor the Awami League openly or secretly, they should be arrested and brought to justice. The Awami League will never be able to return to the people with a healthy narrative. The spirit of July has set fire to our hearts, which will burn like a torch for many more days.”
He said, “The youth who led the mass uprising have also formed a party, but they have not yet been able to reach everyone. There is inconsistency within the NCP. They need to be more united and mature in their words and actions. A few days ago, people were skeptical about whether the vote would happen or not, but now people believe that the vote will happen. Although all parties were not united in the national consensus on reforms at first, now it is seen that everyone is getting united. Whoever forms the government in the future will have to run the country by keeping the aspirations of July in mind.”
Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiran, Chairman of Debate for Democracy, made 10-point recommendations at the program to make the next national election fair and acceptable.
