Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul has said that false accusations are being made continuously against all the Chief Advisers.
"False accusations are being made continuously against the Chief Adviser and all other advisers, yet we have not filed any case. We have left it to the conscience of the people."
He added, "No case has been filed against journalists for journalism. The cases were filed based on allegations of inciting criminal activities. I have no role in the matter. The Law Ministry has never interfered in decisions regarding journalists’ bail."
The government is withdrawing 20,000 politically motivated cases, and 12,000 of them have already been withdrawn, according to Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul.
He made these remarks on Thursday (June 26) morning at a seminar jointly organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies at a hotel in Dhaka.
The adviser further said, “Most reforms are needed in the judiciary and the police. Therefore, these reforms must not only be for the people but must be done with the people in mind.”
Speaking about digitalizing the justice system, he has stated that it is a time-consuming process, but even so, two courts—one in Dhaka and one in Chattogram—have already been digitalized.
