A Bangladeshi diplomat has reached Tehran amid the Iran-Israel war. Walid Islam, consular officer of Bangladesh's Tehran embassy, has managed to reach there.
On Monday, an official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told the media that Walid Islam, consular officer of Bangladesh's Tehran embassy, has reached Iran via Turkey. He is now working to repatriate expatriates from the Tehran embassy.
He said, “Walid Islam came to Bangladesh on vacation. He was supposed to go to Tehran from Bangladesh on June 15. However, he got stuck after the Iran-Israel war broke out on June 13. Later, he went to Turkey from Dhaka. He reached Tehran by road from Turkey.”
Another source said that Walid Islam could not easily reach Tehran from Istanbul. First, he tried to enter Iran through the Istanbul border. However, failing to do so, he took the initiative to enter Iran through the Turkmenistan border. He failed in this attempt, too. Later, he entered Iran through the Turkish border again.
Meanwhile, Walid Islam was forbidden by his relatives and friends to visit to Iran during the war. Even his mother forbade him. Before going to Iran, Walid Islam announced this in his Facebook post. However, he went to Tehran out of his sense of responsibility. There, he is working to bring back Bangladeshi expatriates.
