A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on the three children of former Awami League Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury in connection with corruption and money laundering investigations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Jahangir Alam issued the order following a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which expressed concerns that the accused might attempt to flee the country. The banned individuals include Saifuzzaman’s sons, Tanayem Zaman Chowdhury and Sadaqat Zaman, along with his daughter Zeba Zaman.
The petition, filed by ACC Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam, highlighted the ongoing investigation involving a seven-member task force from the ACC, CID, and the National Board of Revenue (NBR). The task force is focused on probing allegations of financial crimes against the former land minister and those connected to him.
The ACC has requested the travel ban to ensure the accused remain available for investigation and legal proceedings.
