Just as the Awami League partyized freedom fighters, if the martyrs of the July-August uprising are partyized, they will be devalued, said BNP Standing Committee member Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain.
He said this at a discussion titled 'BNP founder Shaheed Ziaur Rahman's leadership and present Bangladesh' organized by the Nationalist Research Foundation (NRF) at the National Press Club Saturday morning.
Dr. Zahid said, “Since you were given the responsibility on August 8, it has been almost 10 months since June 21. It will be a year in a few days. In this situation, we want to know, you talk about Abu Sayeed, Mugdho, Asim. But we have to talk about all our martyrs again and again. But if you partyize the martyrs like the Awami League, then the martyrs will be devalued. This martyr is a martyr for the nation, for democracy.”
Addressing the government, he said, "After August 5, the people have put you in charge of organizing a fair and impartial national election in the country. All the institutions that are very necessary for the election, the judiciary, the administration, the Election Commission, will be reformed and elections will be held quickly. The power of the people, the ownership of the people will be returned to the people. The people will express their will through the right to vote."
