The government has decided to declare Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar as autonomous institutions.
This information was confirmed by the Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam while talking to reporters at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday.
The Press Secretary said that this important decision was taken in a two-hour high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Advisor.
He said, "It has been decided to transform Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar into fully autonomous institutions. For this purpose, a committee is being formed to determine the policy framework and implementation process."
A committee headed by C. R. Abrar will be formed in this regard. This committee will investigate whether any television channel has been granted a license in the past to fulfill the ideological objectives of the political party, and will also formulate a policy for granting new licenses in the future.
